Jay Wence Massage — Ashland, OR

I take what I do seriously and strive to offer the best possible services to all of my clients. Each and every client is my teacher, and I learn so much from all of you: thank you! My days are full of long walks through the woods, massage, astrology, tarot, really amazing tea, meditation, cats, travel, preparing and eating delicious meals, and working on making our world a better place. I like to be outside in the sun very much. Formerly a landscaper, cook, and coffee shop manager, twice a successful restaurateur (appearing as myself/ the owner of Big Star Diner on the 1st season of the Food Network's Diners, Drive Ins & Dives), I am settling into this second half of my life with some big questions (what are we doing here/ what is my purpose; how to become my best and highest self?) and the attempt to hold my body healthily together against the force of time. It’s rare to come across an LMT as skilled and caring as Jay Wence. He has been expertly treating me for a few years, mainly for muscular dysfunction due to running and being at a computer all day. Jay is especially gifted in working on the issue(s) you have, while also gently encouraging you to think about (and maybe address) underlying factors and causes. It feels like Jay’s purpose in life is to help or give to others, which is appropriate because that’s exactly what he’s doing! Oh, and if you’re a talker, Jay has a most unique and refreshing perspective on life. As a massage therapist and outstanding human being, Jay has my highest recommendation. Jay is fantastic! He provided me with an I Ching reading today at a most needed crucial, life-changing time in my life. He helped me connect with what I really needed to discover in order to propel forward and reach my dreams. I appreciated how he explained the oracle and how the reading worked to maximize the potential it could provide to best answer my questions. He was compassionate, kind, listened actively and was generous with his time. I left feeling motivated and sure-footed about my path. Thank you Jay! If you want deep-tissue massage, he is your man, but it doesn’t stop there! If you’re like me and not athletic, you will find he knows how to work with you too. Jay uses hot stones which feel wonderful. Furthermore, I always appreciate how he looks beyond the surface and conveys his findings in a way that helps me have better self-understanding. This comes across whether he is assessing my muscles so he can massage them, or assessing how my spiritual-emotional self is affecting my physical body. Jay's massage, meditation and spirit-body medicine are thorough, focused and kind.
